Foreclosures to Be Suspended Over Holidays
As a gift to bank executives, Freddie Mac and his lovely mrs, Fannie Mae, of the Port Northmond MacMaes, have decided to suspend evictions from foreclosed homes until January. Traditionally, the wealthy have lightened the crushing weight of their boots on the poor during the so-called Holiday Season. This slight alleviation of oppression has several positive effects. The relative freedom encourages the poor to increase spending and accumulate debt, it may count as "points" in the unending quest of the wealthy to appear upstanding within their communities and religious organizations, and it creates a congenial atmosphere in which those who can afford to may revel in greater excess under the cover of holy celebration. During the 2008 Holiday Season, the let-up of pressure has some deleterious extra benefits. It allows the layoff of workers who otherwise would process the paperwork for foreclosures, and it allows Executives to ignore the problem of accumulating foreclosed properties, while giving them additional time to indulge themselves using the delightful cash provided to them in the form of lavish salaries and expansive bonuses. by S2

use fear.
Now we know what the beginning of the great depression felt like. Its a bit scary, and our media tries to keep the feeling at some remove, but when you are standing near the ocean, you just know its there. Here is a train wreck in which all the passengers face an instant sickening clarity and become aware that the engineer is truly incompetent and missed the chance to avoid the accident long ago, and we all missed the chance to choose a qualified train driver, mostly because we are lazy and narcotized. And war. It goes on. They keep it alive. They need it. And there are several "Theys." None have my interests at heart. And statistically, your interests are none of their concern as well. And what of the Constitution? The government is not subject to, nor does it abide by, the rule of law. They openly claim they are not required to do so. Those who are charged with enforcing the law do not. Posts are abandoned. Information is falsified. Games are played. Children die. And foreigners. And the unpatriotic. And the poor. And the afraid. And more others.
or not. Choose otherwise. Please do. by S2 change you can sorta pretend is going to happen after it doesn't. yes we can. or not. hope. and more.

Just a quick idea:
The most important aspect of the presidential race is bringing all the pundits on board so that they don't feel left out, don't get their feelings hurt, and don't need to clutch their pearls on the way to the swooning couch. If we can keep them happy, then perhaps they won't spend the next four years manufacturing their own narrative and we, the nation, can move forward. How can we do this? By engineering a race they can love, and understand. And this is where the simplicity of my idea really will pay off. Let us demand that Obama pick McCain as his running mate, and McCain can pick Obama. Its a win, win, win. No more pouty, confused pundits; really no need for journalism at all. Just sit back and flick on teh teevee. What could be better? by S2

My Fellow Americans,
Now is the time. Patriotism has become a bad word. The true meaning has become muddled. Can we "Support the Troops" by putting a sticker on our personal trucks? Can we love our country by shopping a bit more and amassing a little more debt? Can we make ourselves safer by ignoring our neighbors, building higher fences, forsaking those who are different than ourselves? Is blind trust in a strong but ignorant leader guided by faith enough? Not anymore. There is a new movement on the horizon. And I'm not talking about helping a dedicated, visionary leader register more voters, help get health care for more americans and stop an illegal war while ending tourture. I'm not even talking about a gas-tax holiday or setting an arbitrary limit of 100 years on our Iraq adventure or using up our inventory of bombs on Iraq. I'm talking about wearing a minimum of 2 flag lapel pins for every american man woman and child. And more. Wear 6 or 8. Put jackets on your dogs, cats and ferrets and have them wear flag pins too! More pins. Just do it. Comments >> (8 comments) by S2
Dear Sir or Madam,
As the presumptive nominee for the Presidency of the United States of America, I ask you to consider the following slogan for your campaign: Preserve. Protect. Defend. I recommend that it be adorned with a simple and easily recognizable logo using red, white, and blue. Please be aware of the importance of font choice and be certain you are consistent in font usage. Collateral materials could then be organized around the following themes:
Repair the law. Again, as a professional in the area of branding design, I cannot overstate the importance of font choice and consistency in its usage. Comments >> (1 comment) by S2
The good folks in Yorba Linda wrote me, and I just had to share!
Watch out Booman Trib Community, there's a new kid on the blog! (heh.)
If you're a news junkie, this blog's for you! If you've never visited The Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, I recommend it. Its about as surreal as it gets. Be certain to worship at the Pat Nixon shrine, and the giftshop alone is worth the trip to Orange County. I got a birdhouse that looks like the cottage RN was born in.
Comments >> (1 comment) by S2 Media Narrative Shifts as Lazy Reporters Get More Free Booze Update [2008-3-6 11:57:48 by S2]: Ed. note: This story exemplifies the lazy, pointlessness of media coverage of important events in American life, which are tinged with destructive elements such as bigotry. It is in no way meant to portray Senator McCain as a racist: in fact, please remember he was a victim of racism in 2000 at the hands of now President Bush. The story is meant to look forward and postulates that the narrative of the coming election will, by necessity, have elements of bigotry involved, and Americans should prepare their expectations accordingly. by S2 ![]() I gave the President my book. He raised an eyebrow. "Who wrote this for ya, Geldof?" he said without looking up from the cover. Very dry. "Who will you get to read it for you, Mr. President?" I replied. No response. Its all too easy to think of Bush as a war criminal presiding over a huge criminal enterprise, because, well, its true. But its weird to touch on the fact that human monsters, intentional or accidental, are real human beings, too.
I like to think it is personally empowering to realize this idea. Toward that end, I suggest you read this interview: Comments >> (5 comments) by S2
